Did you know that Easter, or Pasqua, is the second most important holiday in Italy? Easter weekend covers a long weekend in Italy, with the additional Italian observance of Pasquetta, or “little Easter,” which falls on the Monday after Easter. Pasquetta is a day in which you are free to celebrate any way you wish. Traditionally, Christmas is spent with parents and family, whereas, Pasquetta is for sharing with whomever you want.
While you probably won’t spot an Easter bunny, you will find inspired holiday celebrations throughout Italy. Easter is a joyous celebration filled with good food and cheer. The clocks have gone forward and the supermarket shelves are piled high with huge chocolate eggs and traditional Easter cookies. Food, fireworks, religious rituals, and parades are all part of an Italian Easter celebration.
Are you a cookie dunker? I am and, in my opinion, authentic Italian cookies, slightly crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy in the center, are the best for dunking. It doesn’t matter how strong your espresso is, Italian almond cookies are so well designed and perfectly formed they withstand the rigors of dipping. And Mia Bella Italian almond cookies are ideal for sipping and dipping!
Not everyone is lucky enough to have a Nonna at home baking these delicious delights. But fear not. We’ve got you covered! Our Italian almond cookies are baked fresh daily by Chef Francesco using time-honored recipes that even your nonna would approve. We bake six different varieties and ship them right to your door. Even better? They’re gluten-free.
